Scream Queen- Chapter 11

Zhu Yang threw a sofa pillow at him-

“Who told you to come? Didn’t I tell you to stay at home and not run around?”

Zhu WeiXin did not retreat but instead stepped forward, retorting, “If I didn’t come, then I wouldn’t have known about the crime that’s been committed. Anyways, what should we do? Let’s clean up the scene first.”

Then he pointed a finger at Xie Yi, “Who’s this person? Do I need to silence him?”

Xie Yi stared at the rascal. He really bore a heavy resemblance to his sister. Since his task was finished, he should leave now.

Zhu WeiXin originally wanted to ask his sister if she wanted him to call some people to threaten the man, but when he looked back, the long-haired corpse disappeared.

Rubbing his eyes in shock, he pointed to the TV, “Where’s the corpse?”

Zhu Yang lifted her palms into a shrugging motion, “What corpse? Are you still tired from the plane ride? My party just finished and you come along ruining my mood. Did you have breakfast yet?”

“No but, clearly there was-”

Zhu Yang interrupted him with a look of suspicion that asked if he was drinking or on drugs. Seeing that look, Zhu WeiXin shut his mouth tightly, but still went up to touch the TV screen.

However, he didn’t feel anything except for the smooth screen. The body seemed to be an illusion.

Then he thought about the group of people who just left. If there really were a corpse, then how would they be so calm?

He rushed over towards his sister and hugged her, “Sis, you truly weren’t entangled in any shady things? I’ve heard that if a girl lives alone for a long time, the yin energy would accumulate. Since I have yang energy, I’ll live with you for a while to balance out the energies.”

Zhu Yang poked the firm muscles on his arm. Her brother was so clingy that he wouldn’t let go for a while.

Thus, he clung to her as she dragged him towards the kitchen to prepare breakfast for him.

Their childhood home was quite far away and it took several hours by plane to reach Zhu Yang’s college, not counting for the distance it took to get to the airport and the long boarding times.

For this little idiot to arrive here so early in the morning meant that he must have ran out in the middle of the night to board the plane.

Zhu Yang once again felt distressed about his abrupt arrival. As she fried an egg, she asked, “Did you eat anything since last night?”

“Ate… aircraft meal”

“Is that stuff even edible?” Zhu Yang’s lips curled in distaste and added some bacon and sausages to the pan.

With that, Zhu WeiXin erupted into cheers, “Add more. I like to eat meat. I saw some dumplings in the fridge, please cook some.”

After his exhausting journey, Zhou Wei Xin’s appetite was greatly increased.

Zhu Yang understood his situation and steamed some of the frozen dumplings that had been prepared by the housekeeper aunty. There were quite a few varieties of stuffing. She also prepared a glass of soy milk and sliced a few fruits. It was a very fulfilling breakfast.

After Zhu Weixin finished eating, he was rushed by his sister to take a bath and go to sleep. He had his own room, but since he came in a hurry, the room hadn’t been cleaned up, he shamelessly occupied his sister’s room.

The mess caused by the party would naturally be cleaned up by workers later, so Zhu Yang poured herself a glass of juice and stood on the balcony on the second floor.

Lounging on a reclining chair, she enjoyed the morning sun.

The stress of having to deal with the female ghost for several days was quite taxing on her. Even though she seemed to have the upper hand for the majority of the time, she couldn’t feel relieved till now.

However, Xie Yi’s final words unsettled her. And that man purposely spoke in such a vague manner!

This caused Zhu Yang to feel a bit frustrated, but at the same time, she felt that they shouldn’t apply to her.

Strictly speaking, she had no relations with the mysterious game nor does she meet the player criteria.

The only reason things turned out this way was because of that b*tch Zhu LiNa who dragged her into this mess! Along with that stupid ghost who wouldn’t let her go.

But Xie Yi said that the game’s existence did not obey logic nor reason?

As Zhu Yang mulled over Xie Yi’s words, she suddenly felt another consciousness within her, supplying her with just enough information to understand everything. It was just like how Zhu LiNa described her experience.

Basically, she had been congratulated on her victory during the trial run and that Zhu LiNa’s reserve player status had been transferred over to her. Once she accepted, she would be an official player of the game.

This game had no specific name or set rules that would regularly pull people into virtual worlds to complete tasks.

Of course, there were certain risks that come hand in hand with the tasks assigned. However, at the same time the risks are accompanied by countless opportunities and rewards.

If she accepts this, then the rewards from this game will be distributed.

It took a while for Zhu Yang to digest all this information, and when she recovered, she felt like she got f*cked over.

What kind of nonsense was this? Let’s not even mention that b*tch Zhu LiNa who shamelessly led the disaster over to her side.

Why did this broken game target her? Zhu Yang couldn’t believe that it was so easy to transfer player statuses. Who in their right mind would want to play this deadly game?

If the beginner selection round starred a ghost who had the ability to scare people to death, what exactly are players facing in the official games?

The first requirement of becoming a reserve player was to either escape a major accident or recover from a disease. Even this illogical game understood that it was impossible to force ordinary humans to give up their freedoms for no reason.

Zhu Yang would only accept her player status if she had a hole in her brain.

Just as she was about to say no, the phone rang. It was Xie XiaoMeng.

Zhu Yang was in a foul mood, so she impatiently barked out, “What!”

“Zhu Yang! Zhu Yang!” the other side was panicking and crying, “Zhu LiNa died! Right in front of my eyes.”

“After we left your house, we both took a taxi. She got off first and waved ‘bye’ to me. Then as she was crossing the street, she suddenly stopped, as if she was possessed by something. It was only for a short moment!”

“Then, just as she recovered and took two steps forward, she was sent flying by a speeding large truck! The ground’s painted with blood. I’m too afraid to look! I’m afraid- waa~”

Zhu Yang felt like someone poured freezing water on her. Her throat had gone dry, “How long ago?”

“Just now. Not even five minutes ago. Zhu Yang, could the female ghost still be alive? Is she coming after us? Zhu LiNa, me, you, are we unable to escape?”

At that time, Zhu Yang had received the consciousness fragment. Which meant that the second Zhu LiNa transferred her status, she was killed.

The life that once escaped death’s clutches was taken back in a blink of an eye.

Zhu Yang quickly comforted Xie XiaoMeng and told her to go home first, then hung up the phone. She was silent for a moment before smashing the phone on the ground.

Then the same conscious fragment started to urge Zhu yang again-

【Do you choose to become an official player?】

【Do you choose to become an official player?】

【Do you choose to become an official player?】

The more the statement was repeated, the more urgent and anxious it sounded, which was unsettling.

Although this was obviously a conscience fragment, with no voice or feelings, Zhu Yang could clearly feel a sinister presence threatening her.

If she refused, would she immediately die like Zhu LiNa?

【Can I transfer my status to others?】 Zhu Yang asked silently.

The response she received was a “no”. There wasn’t anyone around who fulfilled the transfer conditions. And as for what these conditions were, there was no information given.

Zhu Yang wanted to blow up her house at that moment.

No, when Zhu LiNa refused, she was standing in the middle of the road and was run over. Then what about her, who was sitting in her home? Will a meteorite suddenly fall and kill her?

However, she wouldn’t be killed alone. Her stupid brother was still asleep inside. Even if Zhu Yang was angry, she wouldn’t dare risk it.

Grinding her teeth harshly, she finally chose to accept.

The reward for killing the female ghost was immediately distributed –

【Mission rank: S, Obtained: 20,000 skill points, Sadako (fake) skill book dropped. Player gained some of Sadako (fake)’s abilities. 】

Zhu Yang’s mouth twitched. This game was too good. They even acknowledged that their ghost was a fake.

However, the reward of obtaining the female ghost’s skills was surprising. Although the goal of the game was not clear, wasn’t it tasteless to give her the ghost’s skills after she had mercilessly bullied her to death.

However, having some ghost skills meant that she would be able to deal with these supernatural beings quicker.

For example, Xie Yi must have gained some sort of power from the game. Otherwise he wouldn’t be able to control the female ghost so easily.

But how are the points used?

Zhu Yang wanted to know, but there was no response from the conscious fragment. She wondered if the thing would only respond at the beginning of the next round.

After selling herself to the game, Zhu Yang felt uncomfortable and lost interest in relaxing in the sun.

By the time she went back downstairs, the mess from the party was almost cleaned up. Heading towards the kitchen, she passed by the TV.

For some unknown reason, she decided to stretch her hand outwards, towards the TV screen-

What happened next would shock any normal person, but was calmly expected by Zhu Yang-

Her hand had passed through the TV screen!

Since there were still cleaning aunties coming and going from the house, she hurriedly pulled out her hand and ran upstairs towards the bathroom.

She attempted to re-experiment with the mirror this time. She could actually reach into the mirror and touch her mirror self.

Zhu Yang was a bit curious and excited, but also disgusted at this ability.

Maybe it was because she had been harassed by the female ghost for such a long time, but the moment she touched her mirror self, she was afraid that it would transform into a pale, fanged creature.

When she tried phasing in the wall, she failed, which confirmed Zhu Yang’s assumptions.

It seems that the places she could phase into were all passages to the inner world. Afterall, things like mirrors were considered to be portals for the dead.

Zhu Yang stopped exploring her new skills once Zhu WeiXin woke up at noon.

The two at lunch made by the housekeeper aunty and Zhu Yang began to push for her brother to head home.

She was now stuck in this game and didn’t even know how or when she’d die. She was panicking internally, and was afraid she’ll involve her brother if he remained here.

Zhu WeiXin was unwilling. He already arrived, so how could he be driven away?

After enduring a few slaps, he was still unwilling and even rolled onto Zhu Yang, “I don’t have any clothes to wear. If you don’t want me to sleep in your pajamas tonight, then we need to go shopping after dinner.”

Zhu Yang pinched his face, “I want to throw you off a bridge.”

In the end, she relented. It should be fine for him to stay and play for a whole, since the school term was about to be over anyways.

Plus, with that broken game. Since she just passed the selections, the next round shouldn’t happen for a while.

Thus, Zhu Yang had agreed, changed into some beautiful clothes and put on makeup before taking her brother out to shop.

The two siblings were only three years apart and were both good-looking. Their looks complimented each other very well.

When Zhu Yang was in elementary school, she liked to bring her brother to show off, and Zhu WeiXin also liked to show off his sister to his classmates.

As the two were gaining attention on the streets, Zhu Yang received a message from the conscious fragment.

【The next game will start at 14:00 tomorrow. You will be transported into the game space at that time. Please be alone in a private location at that time. 】

Zhu Yang: …..
